The Whispering Zoo

Winnie Hart loses her entertainment job after three months and takes a position at Southridge Zoo. There she discovers she can hear the animals speak: Waffles the tiger feigns starvation for snacks, monkeys chant about her being single, Reggie the crane critiques visitors, and a goldfish repeatedly forgets who it is. The zoo director hired her without meeting her, texts with a smiley-face profile, and gives unexplained bonuses. As Winnie settles in, she learns the director comes from a family that has communicated with animals for generations and has been her secret fan since a night he saw her nearly trip onstage. When a reality show films at the zoo, Winnie goes viral and the animals become internet celebrities, leaving the director with fewer excuses to hide what the creatures already sense.
