Skylar Heron begins her senior year feeling unseen, even as she imagines asking Jamie Donner to the winter ball. Once inseparable childhood friends and next-door neighbors, the two drifted apart after sixth grade, leaving Skylar unsure whether Jamie, now the school quarterback, remembers their closeness.
