Regret is the Punishment

Karen is a stay-at-home mother married to Tom, a rich lawyer, but she is away when a fire breaks out at their house. Their daughter Anna is rescued by firefighter Bob Clarke and good Samaritan Merry Brown, who accompany her toward urgent hospital care. Meanwhile, Karen returns from an affair and becomes involved in a collision with the emergency vehicle. When the fire truck carrying Anna hits Karen's car, she focuses on the damage and demands an apology and payment instead of moving aside. Merry, paramedic Eve, and passing bystanders try to clear the way, but Karen does not realize the vehicle is carrying her own daughter. As the delay threatens Anna's treatment, the story brings Karen's choices, the family's hidden truths, and difficult questions of responsibility into sharp conflict.
